Our design considerations include robust countermeasures against wave-induced currents and pressures. The reefs are engineered to withstand significant near-bottom velocities—up to nearly 5 m/s in shallower depths and over 3 m/s in deeper waters, as detailed in the analysis of extreme wave conditions like Cyclone Xavier. Furthermore, pressure calculations equations and empirical modifications indicate that our structures can withstand forces within 12 atmospheric pressures, ensuring stability even under severe wave impacts.

The AmA® system also incorporates a gravel-layer foundation, optimising the stability of each unit and preventing bed scouring around the structures. These features, coupled with a large base and low center of gravity design, ensure that the artificial reefs not only protect the seabed but also maintain their position and structural integrity, even under the most demanding conditions found in the North Sea.
